Understanding AHT

What is Alternative Healing Therapies?

AHT is where the treatment is a replacement for conventional, mainstream, medical treatment. For example, treatment of anxiety and stress with REIKI and Access Bars only.

Complementary Healing Support
An example of integrated support

Complementary therapies such as REIKI are sometimes used alongside conventional cancer treatment to support relaxation, emotional wellbeing and comfort while patients continue receiving medical care.

Experiences with complementary therapies can differ from person to person, and they should not be considered a replacement for chemotherapy, oncology treatment or advice from a qualified medical professional.

A progressive way of thinking

Healing support can work alongside medical care.

The aim is to create a more holistic experience that considers emotional wellbeing, relaxation and the individual as a whole while appropriate medical treatment continues.

Important: Alternative and complementary therapies should not replace professional medical diagnosis or treatment for serious illness or disease. Always discuss complementary therapies with your doctor or treating healthcare professional.

Your Treatment Journey

What to expect in a treatment session.

Your first session is an opportunity for the practitioner to understand you more fully, explain the process and help create a treatment approach suited to your needs.

Arriving for your session

Comfort comes first.

You should turn up for your appointment wearing loose clothes so that you are comfortable. You will be asked for a medical history, and about your diet, sleep patterns, and emotional state.

The practitioner may also examine your tongue, check your skin colouring and type, take your pulses, and examine your body for posture, movement, and signs of muscle-tensing.

Understanding your needs

Your practitioner gets to know the full picture.

You may be required also to complete a questionnaire so the therapist can identify root causes of issues in the current body. The therapist in your first session will also explain exactly the treatment session will involve.

The treatment environment

A space designed for calm and focus.

Once a treatment plan has been decided upon by you both, you will be asked to lie on a massage table. Music may be played for your relaxation in some treatments whilst other ones require silence.

During the treatment

The therapist generally gives you either a hands on or hands off treatment depending on the therapy. The practitioner begins with a centering process to calm the mind, access a sense of compassion, and become fully present with the patient.

In practices such as Reiki, the practitioner may place their hands lightly on the body or make small sweeping motions above the body as part of the treatment experience.

Different therapies, different techniques

For other therapies it may involve muscle testing and other techniques to locate the source of illnesses and address these. You can learn more about this in the information on each therapy and by engaging your chosen therapist.

A New Era Of Awareness

The time is now…

We are leading such busy lives that we are forget to self-care and often ignore events that happen to us until they begin to manifest as illness and disease in the body, when just a massage therapy or relaxing REIKI session can give us so much relief.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of natural healing that originated in Japan. It focuses on the use of universal life force energy to restore health and well-being. A Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch or places their hands just above your body to heal by guiding this energy in a way that promotes balance and healing.

The term comes Reiki comes from two Japanese words: “Rei,” which means universal, and “ki,” which loosely translates to a lifeforce of energy.

Reiki stems from the principle that every living being has a life force which radiates from all part of your being, and it is the channelling of this life force energy through the recipient’s own energy centres or chakras to heal – which is REIKI.

According to eastern traditions our bodies, minds and spirit need to be in harmony for us to be healthy. However everyday pressures and traumas in life results in our own life force energy being depleted, resulting in a suppressed immune system. This leaves us vulnerable to sickness, pain and disease.

With regular sessions of reiki, we can begin to replenish our life force energy and be able to heal.

How Does Reiki Work?

A reiki practitioner learns Reiki from a Reiki Master and is attuned with the energy to be able to become a conduit for the reiki energy. Energy is channelled through the practitioners’ hands reconnecting the recipient to the universal life energy source.

The practitioners’ hands which are placed on the body and just over the body in set positions however many use their intuition on where to place hands when drawn to those areas needing healing.

A practitioner who has been through the process of reiki attunements and who has experienced this ancient art for fine-tuning the physical and etheric bodies to a higher vibratory level will be able to channel this energy at a high vibration. The attunement process which is done during studying of reiki opens certain energy centres in the persons body called chakras, enabling the reiki practitioner to channel and vibrate higher amounts of life force energies to the body.

Modern medicine only treats the physical body however Reiki treats all levels of the body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, Reiki works to heal the cause of the ailment while modern medicine treats the current issue and is complementary healing therapy. We often have returning illnesses and very often it is Reiki which can help you heal permanently from an illness or disease by treating all levels of the issue in the bodies auric field and emotional states.

There are a vast number of issues that reiki can assist you with. We have noted the common ones below:

  • Accelerates the body’s self-healing ability
